Veronica founded Dark Mentor LLC in 2018 to focus on offensive security research against Bluetooth-capable devices. In 2020, she presented multiple over-the-air exploits against Bluetooth firmware for chips from Texas Instruments and Silicon Labs. She has continued to perform research, consulting, and training on Bluetooth security since then.

Before Dark Mentor, Veronica was previously a Capability Development Specialist and adjunct instructor at the US National Security Agency (NSA). She also previously held security roles at Tesla, MITRE, and Sourcefire. She holds a Master of Computer Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Xeno Kovah joined Dark Mentor LLC in January 2021. He specializes in firmware security architecture design & audit, Bluetooth security, and low level systems training. In addition to working for Dark Mentor on for-profit work, he also runs a 501(c)(3) non-profit, OpenSecurityTraining2.

Before Dark Mentor, Xeno was previously a ICT6 at Apple where he led the firmware security team and served as the architect for Apple Silicon Macs’ secure boot chain. He also previously held security roles at LegbaCore and MITRE. He holds a Master of Science in Information Security Technology and Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
